5: Adding images and videos to your pages and posts
Images you can use
Images can be photos or other images like screenshots of charts or graphs. You can use DNA Painter or other family history programs to create pedigree charts which can generally be saved as jpg or similar to be imported into Blogger. When you're taking a screenshot to include in your blog, make sure that you make the image as large as you can on your screen to avoid blurring when enlarged in your blog.
If the height or width of an image exceeds 2.048 pixels, it'll count towards your Google storage limit.
Choosing an image
- These are the ways you can choose an image to include in your post or page.
- Highlight the images that you want to insert and choose Select.
- Once you have uploaded an image from your computer to Blogger, it remains within that blog's images on Blogger. Only upload an image once! You can then find it under Blogger (as shown above).
Image layouts
Here are some of the different alignments and sizes that can be used for images in your pages and posts.

Placement of images in pages and posts |
- An image can be centred directly under your text. This is the easiest way when you start.
- An image can be aligned to the left or right. The text will flow around the image newspaper style.
- Multiple images can be placed side by side but this is done prior to importing a single image to Blogger. This can be achieved by adding the images to a program like PowerPoint and doing a screenshot OR group images and right click and "save as image".
- Borders and picture frames must be added to the image before it's imported to Blogger.
Image settings

- The first three align the image to the left, centre and right.
- The next adjusts the image size.
- Next is the image caption
- Finally, the cog allows for alternative text and title to be added to an image. This will show if the image doesn't. It's used by screenreader software for the visually impaired. It improves the "searchability" of your blog. You can decide to use it or not.
Videos you can use
You can upload a video from your computer or choose a video from YouTube. If the video is longer than 15 minutes, it'll count towards your Google storage limit. Another option is to provide a link to an external site hosting the video rather than uploading it to Blogger.
